My First Team Run

We had our first team run on Saturday! The schedule said we would be running two miles, but our eagerness led us to running 3 miles, 3 miles of pure hills. I am not used to running hills, so after the first mile and a half, my legs were really feeling it... I made it to the 2 mile marker, but then reached the steepest hill of all and decided to walk it and started running when I had reached the top. I was one of the last people to finish our run, but thanks to my friend Dana and her friend they pushed me to finish running (Dana's advice: think about how nice your bum will be) haha. It is now Monday and my legs are still hurting and still tight, but I went for another 2 mile run today and hopefully that will help stretch them out.

I knew this was going to be hard, and so I am not complaining... but too all those people that dont think it's in me, well it is... I will finish this marathon, even if their are times I have to walk it.

please... show your support and help me fundraise my goal of $3,895!!! visit the website listed below: or you can send checks made out the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and send them to me, for my address, email me at heather10haley@yahoo.com

thank you for your love and support...

Wed. May 14th

I decided to set up a blog, where everyone can keep up to date with how my training and fundraising are going.

As many of you already know, I am running the Nike Women's Marathon on October 19th in San Francisco...not sure what has gotten into me, but I'm VERY excited for the journey ahead. What got me interested you ask? Well, I decided it was about time I started putting my time and energy towards something good besides laying in the sun, watching American idol, house and Grey's Anatomy. I have always loved running and decided if I was going to suffer sore muscles, painful blisters and severe dehydration...I may as well do it for a good cause. This led me to Team in Training, a non-profit organization that raises money for Leukemia, Lymphoma and Myeloma (blood cancer) research. I didn't really know much about blood cancer until I went to the information meeting and was immediately touched. After hearing countless heartbreaking stories, I decided I wanted to help find a cure for these people. I'm not gonna lie, it's going to be a LONG five months, but a very meaningful 5 months. It feels good to know that I am working towards something that can potentially save a few more lives.

I'm running the marathon with a good friend from college, Dana Weinstein, and one of her family friends who she used to babysit, Catherine Kenney. These girls have some serious spunk, and when necessary will tell me to stop the whining and get moving (just what I need!).

I hope to update this weekly on my training, ups and downs, exciting news...all the good stuff! Please check back periodically!

If you would be so inclined, please help me reach my goal of $3895, all of which goes towards research. every little bit counts! so visit my fundraising page and help find a cure for blood cancers!
